Why can't I view RAW format files on my computer?

RAW is a format designed specifically for digital cameras. You can think of it as 'raw image encoding data' or 'digital negative'. You can view RAW format files using professional software such as Photoshop (with Camera RAW plugin installed), ACDsee, etc.
