Alert Notifications in the YI/Kami app

You’ll receive an alert notification in the app when your camera detects movement (Motion Detection/Human Detection).  In order to receive the alerts, you will need to enable motion detection in Smart Detection and enable Video and Photos in Notifications.

1.  First, go to the home screen and click on the camera.

2.  Click on Settings in the bottom right corner.

3.  At the bottom make sure Video and Photos are enabled under Notifications.

4.  Click on Settings under Smart Detection.

5.  Enable Motion Detection (Human Detection availability based on camera).

The alert videos are limited to 6-second clips for a 7-day loop (available for only 7 days, on the 8th day the video from the 2nd day is still available but is removed on the 9th).  The 6-second 7-day loop is a free cloud service available on all YI/Kami cameras.

If the camera has an active cloud subscription or is using a micro SD card (local storage), you can view longer videos by selecting the Complete Clip at the end of each clip.

Alert Notification Settings

To adjust your alert notification settings, select Settings > Smart Detection Settings. Test your settings and adjust accordingly to find a good balance for your setup. 

Motion Detection:
Toggle Alert Notifications on to enable alerts in the app or off to disable.

Activity Region:
Receive alerts only when motion is detected in a specific area of the camera's view (this feature is only available on certain camera models).

Select and drag the frames to set the size of the detection area. Select and hold the box, then drag to adjust the detection area.

Sensitivity Level:
Set the sensitivity level of activity detection to low, medium, or high.

Baby Crying Detection:
Turn on Baby Crying Detection to alert you when the camera detects your baby crying.

Alert Frequency:
Set the Alert to Low (less frequent), Medium (moderate), or High (more frequent).

Schedule:
Set a custom schedule for when you want to receive alert notifications. You can set a total of three alert times.

Note: Alert Notification videos are stored on our servers for up to seven days before they are removed.
